On November 25th, 2024, I had the honor of presenting my first photography exhibition in Geneva, marking a special occasion: the 20th anniversary of CEFAM. This exhibition was born from a simple idea — to capture the stories of 20 women, reflecting the cultural diversity and strength of spirit within the CEFAM community.

Installation — Behind the scenes
For me, as an emigrant myself and as a photographer, this project became deeply emotional. It wasn’t just my first exhibition; it was a huge responsibility to CEFAM. I felt that this project mattered not only to me but also to each of the women who trusted me with their image. My goal was to tell their unique stories, to show them not as “newcomers” to Switzerland, but as strong, confident women who, despite the challenges of migration, remain true to their culture and roots. This project is about trust, gratitude, and the courage of women who proudly show their history.
The photos were taken in Meyrin, the home of CEFAM, and this place became central to the project. What began as a studio shoot quickly evolved into capturing the life and energy of the town — the streets, parks, and buildings that symbolize the women’s new lives here.

Initially, we expected to photograph 20 women, but to our surprise, 27 women participated, eager to share their stories. Each session was filled with warmth and collaboration. We worked as a team — with CEFAM staff, volunteers, and participants — and the results were a beautiful reflection of our collective effort. Special thanks to Sarah, Gülay, and all who helped make this project possible.
During the photo shoots, we aimed to create an atmosphere where the women would feel comfortable. Many, despite the language barriers, actively participated in the process. We communicated with gestures, expressions, and occasionally mixed French with other languages, which was both fun and warm. Some women came with children, and despite the challenges — crying babies and the need to find new spots — we managed. Every moment, every encounter, and every story mattered.
This exhibition is more than just my first, it’s a tribute to the strength and resilience of immigrant women. It’s about trust, gratitude, and the courage to share one’s story. I hope this project helps viewers see these women not as newcomers, but as strong, confident individuals who continue to honor their roots.
The exhibition was met with great enthusiasm and received positive coverage in the media. Radio Vostok featured a special segment discussing my work, where they talked about the exhibition and its impact. The interview also highlighted the presence of CEFAM’s coprésidents, who were there to support the project and its message.

On December 6th, 2024, we celebrated CEFAM’s anniversary with a Gala attended by around 150 guests. The evening featured dances, special programs with oriental songs, a delicious dinner, and a wonderful time together. Public figures also showed their support for the project, making the event even more memorable.
This exhibition is a tribute to the strength, resilience, and cultural richness of the women of CEFAM. I hope that each viewer will see not just photographs, but the powerful stories behind them — stories of courage, pride, and the bond between cultures.
